Built Especially for Royalty, Heads of State, and Celebrities of the Day
Many automobile enthusiasts ultimate dream is to design and build their own custom prototype sports car with a unique coach built designer body. Such were the days in the 1950’s and 1960’s when affluent individuals could custom order a prototype one-off sports cars from the world’s most renouned automobile companies.

Car companies within Italy and from around the world would ship their chassis and drive train to Italian designers and coach builders to handcraft these unique automobiles.

Vignale 375 America
Custom built cars of the 1950’s were each unique. Vignale built custom cars for its exclusive clients. Such a car was the 375 America.

Part of the 375 America's appeal was its 4.5-liter V-12 with an output of 300 horsepower at 6300 rpm. Providing a quoted top speed of 144-155 mph, an astronomical figure at a time when most cars struggled to reach 100.

Among this car's various owners was actor and car enthusiast Steve McQueen.

In many cases these chassis carried engines that were slightly detuned versions of the engines designed and used in the company’s race cars. On receiving the chassis, artisans would work day and night to create a unique elegant hand-formed alloy body and custom designer interior. These were cars that were recognized for their style and artistic beauty, and would stop pedestrians in their tracks as they drove by or were exhibited in expositions around the world. Many of these cars were designed and built especially for Royalty, Heads of State, and celebrities of the day.

Scuderia Vignale combines the experience of its partners Alfredo Zanellato Vignale and the Vignale family’s coach building tradition, along with the engineering experience of Fine Sports Cars and the Grifo Group. Each partner brings to Scuderia Vignale over 50 years of experience in design, engineering, and constructing sports racing cars.

Creating a New Era of Custom Built Prototype Automobiles
Alfredo Zanellato Vignale, renowned engineer, designer, and nephew of Alfredo Vignale, has always wanted to follow in the footsteps of his family’s coach building business. The opportunity presented itself in a casual meeting between Fine Sports Cars, the Grifo Group, and Vignale, where the discussion centered on Vignale’s most famous creations. Vignale special order and prototype cars were hand-crafted for Royalty and Heads of State, as well as celebrities and sports racing car enthusiasts around the world. Alfredo recounted admiring each of the Vignale special cars with his uncle at Carrozzeria Vignale. His dream has always been to carry on his family’s rich tradition of creating unique one-off custom designer sports racing cars. And so the plan was set, the three partners would work together to make Alfredo’s dream a reality.
